JonesDBR is pleased to be working with PBK Architecture on the design for the Texas A&M University-San Antonio – Academic & Administration Building located in San Antonio, Texas.
Located behind the Central Academic Building, which is at the center of campus, the new three-story academic building will hold 19 classrooms, art and language lab suites, an incubator classroom and 70 faculty offices. Once open, the building will hold classes and faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences.
Originally designed as a standalone building with respect to mechanical systems, the design incorporated chilled water piping to allow the 58,000-sf building to run off the campus chilled water loop at a future date. Classroom HVAC utilizes efficient fan powered terminal units for enhanced cooling performance. Inclusion of low maintenance energy recovery systems allows the user to focus on other portions of the mechanical systems. Besides incorporating energy efficient LED lighting, the JonesDBR team incorporated smart lighting controls systems for effective energy usage and realized long term savings for Texas A&M. While the plumbing systems are typical for this type of facility, other aspects include water booster pump system to ensure consistent water pressure throughout all floors, and water coolers with bottle fillers.
